The Jorge Marín Foundation, in collaboration with the Mérida Foundation, launched a project aimed at strengthening and dignifying food preparation spaces in various communities across the state of Yucatán, including Petectunich, Maxcanú, and Santa Rosa.

As part of this initiative, community kitchens were supplied with essential materials and equipment — including refrigerators and stoves — and in certain cases, entirely new facilities were built. These actions seek to ensure that children attending schools in vulnerable contexts receive a nutritious breakfast each day, prepared under proper conditions and in dignified environments.

Beyond addressing a basic need, the project aims to strengthen community participation, support those responsible for food preparation, and promote the overall well-being of children in these communities. The partnership represents a sustained commitment to equity, health, and social development in the region.

Larry Lewis and Greg Malevich, members of the Mérida Foundation.
