SINCE JANUARY 2024, THE JORGE MARÍN FOUNDATION HAS MAINTAINED AND CARRIED OUT A CULTURAL PROJECT IN THE COMMUNITIES OF SAC CHICH AND PETECTUNICH LOCATED IN MÉRIDA, YUCATAN, MEXICO. A PROJECT THAT SEEKS TO OFFER ENTERTAINMENT AND PROMOTE SOCIAL COEXISTENCE. EVERY WEEK, IN THE CIVIC PLAZA OF THE TOWNS, A FILM IS SCREENING OUTDOORS, USING A PROJECTOR AND A SCREEN, ALLOWING THE INHABITANTS TO ENJOY CINEMA IN A CLOSE AND ACCESSIBLE ENVIRONMENT.
ON AUGUST 23, 2024, THE FILM SEA MONSTER WAS SCREENING, GENERATING A NOTABLE INCREASE IN ATTENDANCE. THIS INCREASE IN AUDIENCE REFLECTS THE GROWING INTEREST IN THIS INITIATIVE, WHICH SINCE ITS BEGINNING HAS BEEN WELL RECEIVED BY RESIDENTS. THE WEEKLY SCREENING NOT ONLY PROVIDES A RECREATIONAL SPACE FOR FAMILIES AND YOUNG PEOPLE IN THESE COMMUNITIES, BUT ALSO STRENGTHENS UNDERSTANDING AND EMPATHY AMONG THE INHABITANTS.
THE JORGE MARÍN FOUNDATION WILL CONTINUE TO CONTRIBUTE TO THIS PROJECT WHICH HAS LOCAL SUPPORT AND WHICH CONTINUES TO CONSOLIDATE ITSELF AS A CULTURAL REFERENCE IN THE REGION.
